Design library opens in D.C.’s Shaw.
Home buying isn’t always a simple matter of finding a place you like and purchasing it.
For many buyers, the process includes a major renovation as part of the purchase or a new interior design plan. To accommodate buyers who need help and inspiration as they search for a house to buy, Slate Properties, a real estate brokerage in the District, recently opened a “Client Idea and Design Library” at its new office in the Mount Vernon Square/Shaw neighborhood at 1121 Fifth St. NW.
“As an independent boutique real estate brokerage, we are constantly looking for ways to serve our clients in a unique way, and the Idea and Design Library is a perfect example,” says Andrew Turczyn, broker/owner of Slate Properties, which has 21 sales professionals licensed in the District, Maryland and Virginia.
The modern, industrial space in the old Washington News Company building is the second location for the brokerage. Its other location is in Dupont Circle. The new office has work spaces for agents, conference rooms and a lounge in addition to the library, which has more than 500 residential design, interior design, renovation and remodeling books and resources. The library also has samples on hand of paint, lighting, plumbing fixtures and other hardware.
Turczyn says many of his clients do major home renovations or want inspiration for decorating their new space. The new office provides a place for them to brainstorm ideas and meet with a contractor or designer or just look through the resources to get ideas.
“There is literally something for everyone, from furnishing a studio condo to restoring the period details of a Georgetown colonial to landscape, deck and patio design ideas,” he says.
