Massachusetts Heights
Northwest, Washington D.C.
Massachusetts Heights, a small, affluent neighborhood in Northwest Washington, D.C., is largely occupied by Washington National Cathedral, its grounds, and its associated properties, including St. Albans School. A very small, triangular area contains the only residential section, adjacent to Observatory Circle and the Vice President’s Residence. Due to limited availability, home prices are relatively high. Many of the pricier homes include amenities such as large outdoor entertaining spaces, intricate millwork and elegant moulding. Schools in the area hold an esteemed reputation, offering sterling opportunities for education.
Notably, Observatory Circle is the grounds of the US Naval Observatory as well as the official residence of the vice president at Number One Observatory Circle. The USNO is one of the oldest scientific bureaus in the United States, readying data for the US Navy and Department of Defense.
