Hawthorne

Northwest, Washington D.C.

Named for its once plentiful hawthorne trees, the Hawthorne neighborhood retains its leafy charm due to its many mature beech, oak and birch trees complementing large parcels of land with detached homes. Positioned between Montgomery County, MD and Rock Creek Park, Hawthorne is altogether residential. With no commercial zoning, this suburban area is quiet and benefits greatly from its connection to the park. Mainly built during the 1950’s, housing includes large, split-level homes, Cape Cods, 1950s Ramblers and a smattering of Colonials as well as the addition of modern homes. Residents quickly gain access to downtown through Rock Creek Park in addition to enjoying the many recreational benefits of the Park.
